Ben's educational philosophy centers on creating equitable, student-centered spaces where curiosity, collaboration, and social-emotional growth can thrive. I build intentional experiences around the skills and understandings I want students to carry forward. I believe meaningful learning happens when students feel a sense of belonging, agency, and the freedom to take creative risks.
Theatre Educator
My journey as a theater educator began as a practitioner, touring productions and facilitating workshops alongside the work of creating theater. Those experiences taught me that the most meaningful learning happens through active participation, curiosity, and collaboration. I strive to foster equitable rooms where every voice has value and students feel empowered to take creative risks. At the heart of my practice is a shared goal: building something together through collaboration, generosity, and a belief in the power of the ensemble.
Outdoor educator
I came to outdoor education after COVID, looking for new ways to work with students through the outdoors. I am currently an active instructor in the field as well as the Logistics Coordinator for Sequoyah School. I believe the outdoors provides a unique opportunity for students to build community, work in harmony with the natural world, and discover possibilities beyond what they thought they were capable of. My goal is to create experiences that challenge students to step outside their comfort zones, take on increasingly technical challenges, and learn to trust themselves and one another along the way.
