The Time Machine is Benjamin McFadden’s gender-bent adaptation of H. G. Wells’s classic science fiction novel, written, directed, and produced for the 2025 Hollywood Fringe Festival. The production reimagines the Time Traveler as a woman and places greater emphasis on the novel’s themes of class, inequality, and humanity’s relationship with progress. Blending theatrical storytelling with puppetry and physical design, the production explored how Wells’s Victorian-era ideas resonate with contemporary audiences.
